Sul divieto di usare le abbreviature nella trascrizione dei codici (a proposito di Isid. Siv. etym. 1.23.2)
Isidoro di Siviglia, in un passo delle sue Etymologiae (1.23.2), riferisce che "novicii imperatores" vietarono l'uso delle sigle nella trascrizione delle raccolte di leges. Il presente articolo intende dimostrare che tale notizia non è riferibile a Giustiniano, ma a Teodosio II e Valentiniano III, i quali disposero il divieto per attuare pienamente la riforma introdotta dal Codice Teodosiano.
In an excerpt of his Etymologiae (1.23.2), Isidore of Seville refers that "novicii imperatores" prohibited the use of abbreviations in the transcription of the collections of leges. Our paper aims to show that such reference cannot be traced back to Justinian, but to Theodosius II and Valentinian III, who set this prohibition in order to achieve the reform introduced by the Theodosian Code.
