Biografías y procesos en la Euro-América del siglo XVI a través del epistolario de Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda (1490-1573)

Publicados los XVI volúmenes de las Obras Completas de Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda en este año de 2012, procede ahora iniciar una ambiciosa investigación sobre unas fuentes, afortunadamente ya impresas, que nos informan sobre las personalidades más significativas del siglo XVI y de sus amplias redes sociales, así como de los procesos concomitantes (políticos, económicos, sociales y culturales), que los condicionaron o sobre los que influyeron aquellos significativos personajes. Pero para trabaja r sobre estas ricas fuentes impresas es necesario dotarse primero de una rigurosa metodología científica, cuyos paradigmas conceptuales nos los brindan los filósofos Xavier Zubiri (“inteligencia sentiente” y “estructura dinámica de la realidad”) y Eugenio Frutos (características de una revolución antropológica); y cuya metodología específica nos la enseñan, entre otros, Edgar Morin (operaciones lógicas de análisis, síntesis y explicación) y Peter Burke (necesidad de la teoría en las ciencias sociales). Con estas inmejorables fuentes de Sepúlveda, bien familiarizados con los paradigmas conceptuales de los filósofos y aplicando la metodología de los sociólogos, los nuevos investigadores aportarán, sin duda, en un futuro más o menos inmediato una nueva interpretación historiográfica del papel mundial de Euro-América en general y de la monarquía hispánica en particular en el siglo XVI.

With the publication in the current year 2012 of the 16 volumes of the Complete Works of Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, it is now appropriate to initiate an ambitious investigation of the sources, now fortunately in print, informing us about the most significant leading figures of the 16th century and of its extensive social networks, together with the concomitant (political, economic, social and cultural) processes, which conditioned them or on which those significant figures had an influence. But, in order to undertake the work on these rich printed sources, it is first necessary to be armed with a rigorous scientific methodology, whose conceptual paradigms are supplied by the philosophers Xavier Zubiri (“sentient intelligence” and “dynamic structure of reality”) and Eugenio Frutos (characteristics of an anthropological revolution); and whose specific methodology has been taught to us by, among others, Edgar Morin (logical operations of analysis, synthesis and explanation) and Peter Burke (necessity of theory in social sciences). With these unsurpassable Sepúlveda sources, as they are well familiarized with the philosophers' conceptual paradigms and by applying the sociologists' methodology, the new researchers will undoubtedly provide, in a more or less immediate future, a new historiographic interpretation of the world role of Euro-America in general, and of the Spanish monarchy in particular, in the 16th century.
