Taxis y VTCS/PHVS (private hire vehicles) en España y en el Reino Unido. Una visión crítica de las regulaciones desarrolladas en las áreas metropolitanas de Barcelona y de Londres
El presente trabajo analiza cómo se ha afrontado la regulación a dos niveles del taxi y de los vehículos de alquiler con conductor (VTCs/private hire vehicles -PHVs), por las autoridades españolas y por las británicas, pues la convivencia en estos dos sectores es de normalidad en el Reino Unido, mientras que en España es y continúa siendo conflictiva.
Nos centramos en las áreas metropolitanas de Londres y de Barcelona con el propósito de averiguar y examinar, de forma crítica, si algunas de las soluciones normativas previstas para aquélla podrían ser trasladables a ésta y a otras ciudades españolas.
This paper analyses how the two-tier regulation of taxis and private hire vehicles (PHVs) has been dealt with by the Spanish and British authorities, as coexistence in these two sectors is normal in the United Kingdom, whereas in Spain it is and continues to be conflictive.
We focus on the metropolitan areas of London and Barcelona in order to find out and critically examine whether some of the regulatory solutions envisaged for that area could be transferred to this and other Spanish cities.
