Síntesis de la regulación canónica sobre las parroquias personales

La erección de parroquias personales para ciertos grupos de fieles cristianos responde a una necesidad pastoral y contribuye a la salus animarum. Esa posibilidad ha existido desde el inicio en la Iglesia, pero su realización histórica ha sido diversa. Hay varias clases de parroquias personales, según las específicas necesidades pastorales que requieren su erección: rito, lengua, atención espiritual a militares, pastoral de los enfermos, Universidad, etc. Las parroquias personales tienen esencialmente las mismas competencias que las parroquias territoriales y cumplen los mismos deberes pastorales. Durante algún tiempo, no era claro si el párroco personal podía delegar la facultad de celebrar matrimonios, pero el Consejo Pontificio para los Textos Legislativos ha respondido de manera afirmativa a esta cuestión.

The erection of personal parishes for certain groups of Christ’s faithful corresponds to a pastoral need and contributes to the salus animarum. There has been such a possibility in the church right from the beginning, but its historical realisation has been manifold. There are various kinds of personal parishes, according to the specific pastoral need requiring its erection: rite, language, army, pastoral of the sick, university education… Personal parishes have principally the same competences as the territorial parishes and they have to fulfil the same duties. For some time it was not clear whether the parish priest of a personal parish is capable to delegate the faculty to assist at marriages. The Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts answered affirmative to this question.
