The contribution suggests that Tertullian, when he constructed and articulated the order of the sins in De pudicitia, aiming to illustrate the relationship between idolatry, adultery and murder, could have taken into account the systematics presumably adopted by the Roman jurisprudential literature on iudicia publica from about the middle of the second century.
