La legislación civil en el urbanismo justinianeo

El urbanismo de principios del s. VI d.C. se enfrenta a grandes retos, dado el debilitamiento del tejido social, el fortalecimiento de las villas, la prioridad de las construcciones defensivas y la cristianización del paisaje. Diversas constituciones imperiales plasman una línea clara de actuación política en este ámbito, que en muchas ocasiones es contestada por sus contemporáneos. Se consolida, pues, un nuevo modelo de núcleos urbanos, en el marco de una estructura administrativa que tratará de dar mayor cohesión al Imperio.

Urban planning faces great challenges at the beginning of the 6th century AD, given the circumstances : weakening of the social tissue, the strengthening of the villas, the priority of defensive constructions and the Christianization of the landscape. Various Imperial constitutions reflect a clear line of political action in this field, and that in many cases is answered by his contemporaries. Therefore a new model of urban area is reinforced in the framework of an administrative structure which try to give greater cohesion to the Empire.
