The County of Venaissin through its Estates and Elects

El presente artículo analiza sucintamente la historia jurídica e institucional del Condado Venaissin desde su refundación en estado papal en el siglo XIII, hasta la Francia revolucionaria del siglo XVIII que supuso su disolución como tal. Durante este largo período, los estamentos se organizaron formando una corporación política imposible de obviar en cuestiones fundamentales tales como el pactismo jurídico, la fiscalidad y la acción política; y contando con un conjunto de electos y auditores cuyo papel ejecutivo es comparable a realidades en las que el imperio del derecho y el dualismo político difícilmente pudieron ser torcidos bajo procesos absolutistas.

This essay briefly analyzes the institutional and legal history of the County of Venassin since its refounding as papal state in the thirteenth century to its dissolution during the revolutionary French eighteenth century. During this long period the Estates were organized as a fundamental political corporation impossible to avoid in capital matters such as legal pactism, taxation and political action; having a set of elects and auditors playing an executive role comparable to other realities in which the rule of law and political dualism hardly could be submitted by absolutist processes.
