Miguel Gual (1512-1589), doctor en ambos derechos por la universidad de Bolonia, fue canónigo de la Catedral de Mallorca, canciller de competencias y, entre los años 1565 y 1578, inquisidor de la isla. El artículo presenta una semblanza del personaje, cuya gestión al frente del tribunal fue investigada mediante un procedimiento de visita que acabó con su remoción, y se centra especialmente en el análisis de su biblioteca, que revela sus intereses e inquietudes.
Miguel Gual (1512-1589) doctor in both laws by the university of Bologna, was a canon of the Cathedral of Mallorca, Chancellor for conflicts of jurisdiction and, between 1565 and 1578, Inquisitor of the island. The article presents a profile of the canon, whose conduct at the head of the inquisitorial court was investigated through a visiting procedure that ended with his removal, and is especially focused on the analysis of his library, which reveals his interests and concerns.
