Clarissimae feminae: hijas y mujeres de senadores en las fuentes literarias y jurídicas romanas

La sociedad romana, casi desde sus orígenes, contará con mujeres que van a formar parte de los sucesos más relevantes de su historia. Las mujeres prominentes, tanto en época republicana como imperial, se convertirán en los modelos femeninos a imitar, en su condición de matronas romanas. Las mujeres e hijas de senadores tuvieron una clara influencia en la vida pública, tanto en Roma como en provincias, a partir del estrecho margen de actuación que les permitía el Estado romano. El estudio de las fuentes literarias y jurídicas permiten perfilar el mundo femenino de estas matronas pertenecientes a la élite política, económica y social de Roma.

Roman society, almost from its origins, will have women who will be part of the most important events in its history.
