La reforma del artículo 75 de la LOREG como mecanismo de abstención inducida

Uno de los efectos colaterales más importantes que ha generado la crisis económica en España ha sido el aumento de la emigración. A pesar de que hoy en día los emigrantes españoles tienen más peso que nunca en el censo electoral total, han perdido infl uencia en los resultados electorales de los últimos cuatro años. El calendario electoral del año 2015 está cargado de citas con las urnas, pero difícilmente los emigrantes residentes permanentes en el exterior podrán ser decisivos. Este artículo analiza cómo y en qué cantidad, la reforma del artículo 75 de la LOREG ha perjudicado a la participación electoral de los españoles residentes en el extranjero, excluyéndoles de las elecciones municipales y dificultándoles la participación en el resto de comicios.

One of the most important collateral effects that the Spanish economic crisis has caused is the rise in emigration. In spite of the fact that today the Spanish emigrants have more weight in the electoral census than ever, the emigrants have lost infl uence on the last four years electoral results. The 2015 Spanish electoral calendar is full of elections, but it is difficult that the emigrants who are permanent resident abroad can be decisive. This article analyzes how the reform of the LOREG article 75 has damaged the turnout of the Spanish emigrants. As a result of these legislative changes they cannot participate in the local elections and they have a lot of difficulties to participate in the rest of the elections.
