A moeda em Roma, ou o meio de propaganda política
Dada la necesidad de crear un instrumento que facilite y simplifique no sólo los intercambios comerciales como la vida de los agentes que celebraban pequeños negocios jurídicos, el mundo mediterráneo fue fortalecido con el desarrollo de la moneda que adquiere sobre todo la función de dar a conocer la política seguida. A través de estos pequeños objetos metálicos la historia de todo un imperio é contada, sirviendo como un medio de propaganda política que circulaba de modo más rápido e intenso que los escritos. Su utilización caracterizó distintas sociedades, siendo enfocado en este breve estudio el caso romano en los períodos de la República y del Principado. Entre los diversos aspectos tratados, destacaremos el complejo proceso de acuñación de las monedas que evolucionó frente al ejemplo helénico donde se circunscribe a una actividad artesanal hasta que pasa a integrar la compleja máquina gobernante del imperio romano. Al pasar por las fuentes legislativas buscaremos evidenciar el papel que la moneda tuvo en la propagación del ideario político, siendo a menudo objeto de la atención del gobernante que busca insistentemente controlarla. Given the need to create an instrument to facilitate and simplify not only trade but also the lives of those involved in small legal transactions, the Mediterranean world was strengthened by the development of the currency that became an important instrument to spread the political procedures. Through these small metallic objects the history of an entire empire is told, serving as a way of political propaganda that circulated more quickly and intensely than the written texts. Although its use characterized different societies, in this brief study it will only be considered the Roman case mainly in the periods of the Republic and the Principate. Among the various aspects discussed, we highlight the complex coin minting process that evolved before of the Hellenic example where it was confined to a craft activity until it became part of the complex ruling machine of the Roman Empire.
