Restoring free movement in the Union
After 3 months of lockdown and the restriction of movement of European populations due to the coronavirus pandemic, the internal borders within the Union are due to be almost fully reopened on June 15th, with travel allowed again and the flow of goods re-established. Freedom of movement, one of the cornerstones in the functioning of the European Union (EU), has been severely disrupted by the virus and the decisions taken by governments to restrict normal business activities to a minimum. The full implementation of this reopening, the details of which have not yet been precisely determined by the Member States, raises major economic issues. It will also be an indicator of the strength of EU law and rules after an unprecedented crisis.
Después de 3 meses de bloqueo y la restricción del movimiento de las poblaciones europeas debido a la pandemia de coronavirus, las fronteras internas dentro de la Unión se reabrirán casi por completo el 15 de junio, se permitirán nuevamente los viajes y se restablecerá el flujo de mercancías. La libertad de circulación, una de las piedras angulares del funcionamiento de la Unión Europea (UE), se ha visto gravemente interrumpida por el virus y las decisiones adoptadas por los gobiernos de restringir al mínimo las actividades comerciales normales. La plena aplicación de esta reapertura, cuyos detalles aún no han sido determinados con precisión por los Estados miembros, plantea importantes problemas económicos. También será un indicador de la solidez de la legislación y las normas de la UE después de una crisis sin precedentes.
